Amazing ePaper Wrist Display

Ticketime is a concept design by Jacky Wu, Neo Chen & Eric Liu.

It's intended for use by airlines, to provide travellers with a wristband containing information about their flights, and would be returned once the customer's trip was completed.

The band is held on your wrist by two magnets, one on each end. In a clever twist, when the two magnets meet, they create a circuit that powers the display.

I would pay real money if I could get a watch like this for normal use, so let's hope someone takes this design into production sometime soon!

Mechanical Digital Watch

This De Grisogono Meccanico DG is pretty amazing.

It displays the time in digital form, but is purely mechanical!

They've only made 170 of them, so I would imagine the price is astronomical.

Thanks to Gizmodo for the heads up.

Amazing Celestial Watches

I'm so tempted to buy an Astrodea Celestial Watch.

The face of the watch rotates in real time, so that when 12 O'clock is pointing north, it always shows a true representation of the night sky.

Sadly, the ones advertised on that page are built for the northern hemisphere.

Fortunately, the $US449 price tag would be enough to put me off, even if they do have an antipodean model :-).

A Slightly Expensive Watch

A Tourbillon is a mechanical watch with a mechanism that accounts for the effects of gravity, in order to provide amazing accuracy.

As one would imagine, because of the clever technology and the level of craftsmanship required to build them, these watches can be quite expensive.

However, I was still flabbergasted when I heard the price of the one pictured here.

It's from a range called Defy Xtreme, made by a company called Zenith . If this post from Cool Hunting is accurate, it costs over half a million dollars!

Dali Watch

While I'm still very happy with my Rosendahl, I have to admit I'm very tempted by this Dali Watch.

Mind you, I have a feeling that the image shows it in its best light. How good it would look is very likely to depend on the time of day.
